Relying on a good old-fashioned pen and paper is still the best way to write. For those of us who value our memories, journals, or personal reflections written by hand tend to have a special place in our hearts - a place where thoughts can be put down on paper and thoughts can be reevaluated over time. The modern world has turned writing into an obsolete process for some, but nothing beats the feeling of crossing out a sentence you've completed with your very own pen. For years, I've been writing on my laptop and storing them in a Dropbox account. I did not think that the moment had come where I would want to get back to pen and paper. But this past year, I started feeling like my laptop is getting too developed for its age. The keys of the keyboard feel more mechanical than they used to be, and the hinges on the screen make me think it's about time for an upgrade. The time has come where I am ready to get a quality notebook again. The only problem with getting a new notebook is that there are so many stylus-enabled notebooks out there that all come at different prices: $10-$30, $50-$100 and more. However, I think it's time for me to get a notebook that's not only useful but also special. Now that I have an iPad Air 2, I've set out to find the right stylus for this upcoming college year. The first stylus I wanted was the Apple Pencil by Graphite - but at $100, it's pretty expensive. So what's a college student trying to save up for next semester supposed to do? As an alternative, I've found 7 common touchscreen styluses and compared them on multiple touchscreen devices including my iPad Air 2 and iPhone 6s Plus. I weighed the pros and cons of each stylus in 4 different categories: performance, design, lifespan and budget. Performance:How well does it work? How quickly can you get used to using the stylus? Is it comfortable in-hand when holding it up? Design:Is it simple in appearance? Does the exterior look like something you'd appreciate in your hand? Does it look like something that looks like an Apple product (i.e. elegant in appearance)? Lifespan:How long is the lifespan of the stylus? Is it easy to maintain? Will you need to replace it in a year or two? Budget:How much does it cost per month, per year, or per lifetime? What's the total cost if you include a replacement stylus once in a while?
